Professor Brendan Cooper is a Consultant Clinical Scientist in Respiratory Physiology at University Hospitals Birmingham and also a Honorary Professor at the University of Birmingham. He has over 39 years’ experience in both clinical and research practice in the UK. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed papers on a broad range of respiratory physiology and is a world leader in the drive for Quality Diagnostic lung function and sleep study testing. He has been European Respiratory Society, Head of Assembly 9 (Allied Respiratory Professionals), Co-Chair of the ERS European Spirometry Driving Licence Group. He has been scientific advisor in Respiratory Physiology and Sleep to the Department of Health/NHS, UK for over 30 years and is currently the President of the Academy for Healthcare Science. He was awarded NHS England CSO Awards Healthcare Scientist of the Year in 2020.
