Vestibular Audiologist

NHS Tayside

Caroline Rae has worked as an Audiologist for NHS Tayside since 2010. Her background is in Neuroscience and she now specialises in Vestibular Assessment and Rehabilitation. She has a Masters in Public Health which sparked an interest in clinical and system redesign.

Over the last few years NHS Tayside has markedly changed the pathway for vestibular patients and is currently the only department in Scotland to offer direct access appointments for patients with certain vestibular conditions such as Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, Labyrinthitis and Vestibular Neuritis. NHS Tayside Audiology is also the only department in Scotland with Audiology directed MRI referral to exclude Vestibular Schwannoma without the input from ENT consultants.

These achievements have been recognised with the British Academy of Audiology Department of the Year Award 2017, The 2017 NHS Tayside Star Award for innovation in Practice and being shortlisted for the Advancing Healthcare Awards 2017 and 2018.
