Jackie Walker started work in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in 1989 as a Biomedical Scientist. Her technical background is in Virology, and she had a successful 18 years in Virology initially in the NHS and then moving into management in the commercial environment in a Contract Research Organisation. Jackie returned to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in 2007 and worked as a Technical Services Manager in Biochemistry and also Immunology, prior to being appointed to her current role of Head of Technical Services in Cellular Pathology in August 2011.

Jackie has been involved in the Scottish Pathology Network (SPAN) since being appointed to her current role, and in 2016 was appointed as SPAN Scientific Manager working with National Network Management Services (NNMS) and Pathology colleagues across Scotland to develop a work plan which will steer modernisation, including service change and redesign, improve quality, and ensure provision of an effective cellular pathology service which meets the needs and requirements of our service users.
