Senior Chief Respiratory Physiologist and Head of Service (Respiratory Physiology)

Having started as a Supernumerary trainee for the Trent Regional Health board Jill MacLeod subsequently became employed at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary working in a Cardiorespiratory department where she became experienced in both Cardiac and Respiratory investigations.

In the late 1980s she moved up to Scotland and specialised in Respiratory Physiology and have since worked in all the hospitals in Lothian with a brief spell in the Borders General Hospital. Jill took the lead post for Lothian in 2003 and is now responsible for the 3 departments located at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, Western General Hospital and St. Johns Hospital at Livingston. The service provides a wide range of Respiratory investigations and assessments for the Lothian region and also specialised investigations for tertiary referrals.

Jill sits as Co-Chair representing Physiology on the Lothian Healthcare Science committee and has been instrumental in developing local cross discipline meetings for Clinical Physiology.
