Michael is a Clinical Scientist based at the Southeast Mobility & Rehabilitation Technology Centre in Edinburgh and has been the National HCS Lead for Physical Sciences since January 2015.
He has a BSc (Hons) in Physics & Applied Physics (Nottingham), a PhD in Bioengineering (Strathclyde) and an MBA (Napier). He is a Chartered Scientist and Chartered Physicist and a member the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Physics & Engineering in Medicine.
Having first worked as a Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Dundee, he joined the NHS in 1998 specialising in rehabilitation engineering.
From February 2010 to July 2011 he was seconded to the Scottish Government as a Clinical Advisor to lead the development of national clinical standards for wheelchair and seating services. He has published in both academic and professional journals and presented his work at national and international conferences in the field of rehabilitation engineering.
