General Medical Council
Niall has been the Chief Executive and Registrar of the General Medical Council since 2010. The purpose of the General Medical Council (GMC) is to protect, promote and maintain the health and safety of the public by ensuring proper standards in the practice of medicine.
Niall joined the GMC from The King’s Fund, the leading independent think tank and development organisation, where he was Chief Executive for six years (2004-2009). He is also Chair of the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities and serves as Chairman of the Leeds Castle Foundation.
