Stephen McGlashan graduated with a Degree in Biology at the University of West of Scotland when it was still Paisley College of Technology and after a brief foray into urban ecology he trained in Portsmouth Microbiology department.   He moved to Kent & Canterbury and completed his Fellowship and gained a senior BMS post in Swindon.

In Swindon, Stephen completed his Diploma in Medical Laboratory Management and Masters in Business Administration and was promoted to Deputy Microbiology Manager. 

In 2002 he moved to NHS Fife as Laboratory Business & Quality Manager and in 2013 he was appointed as Microbiology Service Manager.

The Microbiology department is dynamic and forward looking and winning the Advancing Healthcare Award reflects the continuous hard work and effort shown by the entire department.  It demonstrates their commitment to the patients, willingness to embrace new technology and venture into unknown territory.
